Tactile project: exploring the use of our senses & how we interpret this focusing on the tactile quality of felt making – accumulating a series of pieces to make a wall hanging.
Protection project: exploring issues of protection (our homes, bodies, friends, families). Focus on the protective qualities of felted fabric, its history and its uses. Finally making a 2d or 3D clothing piece
All batik workshops use water- soluble dyes that are heat fixed, equipment complies with Heath and Safety. All materials and equipment is provided.
Practical, hands-on workshops, KS1 and 2. Drawing, painting, printing, clay, textiles, murals, bookmaking, drama, dance. Fully qualified and experienced primary teacher and Arts adviser.
Using either one or more of the following processes to make a final piece, weaving, screen printing and felt making.
Batik workshops aimed at 14+ age groups experimenting with wax resist and discharge dying techniques and collage.
Weaving, felt making. Weaving workshops using the Brinkley Loom and creating woven lengths using natural materials. Felt making workshops to create individual pictorial felt pieces or a large communal hanging.
Embroidery, hand dying and block printing of fabrics. Colouring fabrics using dying and printing techniques and producing collages experimenting with layering of fabrics to produce additional colour, form and depth.
3D & textiles workshops working with found and recycled materials. Each workshop is tailored to the age/ability group and can be designed to fit a theme.
