Workshop Proposals
I offer a hands-on workshop in collage - a self-portrait project which includes a logo, the layout of a front page/cover of a magazine etc. Each workshop is tailor-made for the schools' requirements/curriculum.
Collage is usually juxtaposing ready-made images in order to create a new image with new/different meaning. In my work I use the printed paper as texture only, mostly obliterating the meaning of the original material but using the colour and textures to create a new image.
Digital - My digital technique emulates my paper collage work.
The workshop focus is on creating a self-portrait in paper collage for a cover of a magazine, featuring either the pupil himself or a fellow pupil. The workshop introduces the “selfie” as the basis of a contemporary self-portrait and compares the characteristics and purposes of today’s self.
My objective is to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Creating a better understanding of the role of designer/art director/illustrator in creating an engaging front cover of any publication.
I am very flexible in terms of adapting the workshop to fit the schools’ outcome requirements and theme.
Themes: Pop Art. Recycling, History of Art, Portrait.
