What is Artists In Schools?
Artists in Schools provides high-quality workshops to school groups. It offers all key stages the opportunity to work with some of the best visual artists available, working in a wide range of artistic fields.
The National Curriculum places a high priority on introducing children to artists and their art forms from an early age. The mission of Artists in Schools is to provide a simple, practical and collaborative approach to these requirements, enabling more students to enjoy the facility of an artist in their school, while developing innovative and creative arts, craft and design work.
Artists in Schools can tailor workshops to suit individual requirements; whether you’re looking for a half-day workshop, a week-long project or a much longer-term residency scheme, Artists in Schools can help.
How does Artists in Schools work?
Artists in Schools organises artist run workshops in schools and employs artists on its database to tutor the workshops. We market ourselves to schools in East Anglia at present and undertake all the leg work on the artist's behalf. We then work with the school and the artist to finalise the specifics of the workshops and draw up contracts. The artist then simply turns up at the school and tutors the workshop. Artists are paid by Artists in Schools.
How does Artists in Schools benefit the artist?
Artists in Schools undertakes all the ground work for you. You won't have to undertake any mailing, cold calling or marketing yourself, saving you telephone and postage costs but most of all saving your valuable time. Artists in Schools prepares the contracts on your behalf.
How do I register myself on the database?
If you would like to register yourself as an artist on our database click here for an online form, contact Simon Pollock on 01223 528306 or e-mail . We will send you an application form which we require you to complete and submit together with a current C.V, visuals (please send us your pictures as an email attachment in the format of a .jpeg file, squared up and sized at 250 x 250 pixels) and a minimum of two outline workshop proposals for the age group you are interested in tutoring. Artists in Schools requires that all the artists on it's register carry adequate public liability insurance. (All schools require artists to be covered to at least two million pounds). |
